Overview

Europcar and vMobility launched vHire, a digitally-enabled vehicle replacement service designed for the UK insurance sector. GroupWhistle supported the proposition and launch strategy to help introduce a credible new alternative into a market with limited choice.

The challenge

The vehicle replacement segment within insurance claims has long faced structural constraints:

  • Limited supplier diversity
  • Rigid service models
  • Low levels of innovation
  • Rising pressure on cost and customer experience

For insurers, this has created a difficult trade-off between cost control and service quality. Europcar and vMobility set out to address this gap with vHire – a new, insurer-aligned solution designed to improve outcomes across claims, cost and customer experience.

The challenge was twofold:

  • Define a clear, differentiated identity and message in a complex and entrenched market
  • Launch the offer in a way that would engage senior insurance decision-makers and generate early demand

The approach

GroupWhistle worked closely with Europcar and vMobility to shape its go-to-market narrative and create an exciting event that insurers would want to attend.

This included:

  • Identity development – refining how vHire should look and position itself as an insurer-first alternative, built around flexibility, digital control and improved outcomes
  • Messaging strategy – developing clear, commercially grounded messaging aligned to insurer priorities such as cost reduction, operational control and customer satisfaction
  • Launch support – supporting the structure and content of the launch event to ensure a strong, consistent narrative
  • Asset creation – video and photography production, pitch decks and event materials

The messaging centred on vHire as:

  • An insurer-aligned alternative to traditional hire models
  • A digitally-enabled service integrating vehicle replacement, repair coordination and customer communication
  • A flexible, configurable solution rather than a fixed, one-size-fits-all model

This clarity helped position vHire as a practical commercial solution rather than a conceptual innovation.

The solution

vHire combines Europcar’s UK-wide fleet and operational scale with vMobility’s digital platform and insurance expertise.

As outlined in the launch materials:

  • It provides an end-to-end digital claims journey with real-time tracking and self-service capabilities
  • It enables insurers to reduce dependency on single suppliers and improve cost control
  • It is designed specifically for insurance workflows, not adapted from consumer hire models

The launch event at London’s F1 Arcade drew a clear link between Formula 1 teamwork and the vHire proposition. Guests took part in simulator challenges, including racing against F1 driver Martin Brundle, who made a guest appearance.

The results

The launch delivered strong early engagement from the target market:

  • Over 50 key prospects attended the launch event
  • Multiple product demonstrations were booked following the event
  • Brand identity extended to other vMobility products

These outcomes created a clear pipeline of commercial conversations and validated both the proposition and its positioning.
